Febvre & Company Limited has today been appointed sole distributor for Cooley Distillery brands in Northern Ireland. This alliance between Cooley Distillery, the only independent distillery in Ireland and Febvre & Company, an Irish owned family business, offers opportunities to both companies to increase and expand their business in the area.

Cooley Distillery brands to be listed by Febvre in Northern Ireland are: Premium Irish Whiskey blends Kilbeggan, Inishowen and Locke's, together with Cooley's Single Malts Tyrconnell, Connemara and Locke's 8 year old. The North of Ireland market for Irish whiskey is, by itself, one of the largest in the world; it is therefore important that Cooley Distillery has the whole-hearted support of a dedicated distributor. Febvre is the obvious partner having a proven record of sustained growth since the company first entered the North of Ireland market.

John Teeling, Chairman of Cooley said: "I have known the principals of Febvre for many years and have watched in awe as they have grown their venture into a highly successful distribution organisation. Their entrepreneurial drive, distribution strengths and marketing skills, together with our quality single malts and blends will be a powerful force for success in what is an important market for Irish whiskey". John Teeling set up Cooley Distillery in 1987 as the first rival to Irish Distillers, who up to then were the sole distributors of Irish whiskey in the world. Willie McCarter's AA Watt distillery in Derry merged with Cooley the following year. Cooley has been awarded 5 gold medals for its malts at International Wine and Spirit Competition in London last July and won double gold and 'Best of Irish' at the San Francisco World Spirit Competition last March.

Gregory Alken, Sales and Marketing Director of Febvre & Company, said: "The synergy between the two companies was immediately apparent during our initial discussions; we are both small Irish companies with a commitment to delivering quality products of good taste to our customer and to serving them well. This opportunity to represent Cooley Distillery in Northern Ireland will now allow both companies of independent spirit offer an expanded range of depth and complexity that the market deserves." Febvre & Company Limited is an Irish owned family business, well known for its commitment to providing palates with an unrivalled range of excellent wines. Febvre Northern Ireland was set up in 1996 to promote the company's unswerving desire to uphold the traditions of good taste and cultured lifestyles. The partnership with Cooley Distillery is an excellent fit with that aspiration.
